WISCONSIN-MADE SAUERKRAUT EARNS SPOT ON LAMBEAU FIELD STARTING LINE-UP
Bear Creek Company Committed to Getting the Word Out on Kraut
Green Bay, Wis.— Move over, mustard. Make way, pickles. Sauerkraut is joining
the starting line-up at Lambeau Field.
For the first time in the 45-year history of Lambeau Field, sauerkraut will
officially become a part of the starting condiment line-up when Wisconsin-made
Krrrrisp Kraut becomes "The Official Sauerkraut of Lambeau Field" this fall.
Manufactured by Great Lakes Kraut Company in nearby Bear Creek, Wis., the
agreement represents a huge score for the world's largest sauerkraut
manufacturer.
As the exclusive kraut supplier for all of Lambeau Field concessions and
club seats for the next three years, all sauerkraut savored at the stadium will bear
the Krrrrisp Kraut name. That's a ton of kraut: it's estimated that if everyone who
ordered either a hot dog or brat at Lambeau Field topped it with kraut, more
than 26,000 pounds—or 13.3 tons—of the fermented cabbage would be
consumer by Packers fans during the 2002 season alone.
For those still in disbelief about the power of kraut, consider these facts:
- Two out of every three Americans are kraut connoisseurs*
- Americans consumer 387 million pounds of kraut each year**
- Kraut is second only to mustard as the most popular condiment for hot dogs**
- Brett Favre's home state of Mississippi ranks 9th in consumption of canned
sauerkraut*
Great Lakes Kraut Company produces more than 125,000 tons of sauerkraut a
year. Headquartered in Rochester, N.Y., with manufacturing facilities in Bear Creek,
Wis., and Shortsville, N.Y., Great Lakes Kraut manufactures and markets the
leading brands of sauerkraut, Krrrrisp Kraut and Silver Floss. Great Lakes Kraut
has been producing kraut since 1901.
